Stopped for a night on our way to Dover and what an amazing pub we found. Our room was really cosy, with everything you need. A nice hamper breakfast was provided as we couldn't make breakfast due to our early start. The actual pub/restaurant was really well decorated and had a lovely atmosphere but the food was the star of the show. One of the nicest curries I have ever had. Will definitely be returning on our future trips.
We arrived just 20 minutes before the kitchen closed, but the staff at the pub warmly welcomed us and served delicious food. I enjoyed the fish and chips, and my partner's vegan burger was also delightful. The service was exceptional, with everyone being very friendly. A great experience overall
Lunch at the 5 Bells Sunday 1 Oct 2023.
We had a lovely lunch today at the 5 Bells. Such a pretty place! Staff were excellent, I had requested a table with some room around it due to one of our party being almost blind, elderly and unsteady on their feet and the staff had identified 2 tables for us to choose from.
Nice menu with Sunday roast options and other choices (fish was skate, beautifully cooked).
Service was very professional, attentive... really effortlessly perfect.
Along with the skate, we had thyme roasted chicken (succulent and bursting with flavour) and pork belly (my husband's empty plate said it all). Roast potatoes- perfect. Cabbage and cauliflower cheese - perfect. Yorkshire and gravy - perfect!
Perfect portion sizes for us.
This is our second visit in 2 weeks and we are hooked. Definitely offering elevated pub food... but the staff, both back and front of house, add something extra special.
Lovely one night stay with a delicious evening meal and breakfast. Lovely character room called Bacchus but the bed needs a new divan base as it squeaks and is noisy at the slightest movement although the mattress and pillows were great. Great food, drinks and lovely service. Would go again. Thanks Five Bells Inn. 👊👍
If you're walking around the Wye Downs, this is a great pub to stop for lunch. They serve some unique ciders which are really good. I tried the apricot one and although quite sweet, goes down a treat! The space is lovely inside and out, with a quirky unisex toilet. We were a big group, so we sat at a reserved section outside under the canopy, and service was on time and they didn't miss any of the 20 orders! The SEA BREAM FILLET,
Prawn Risotto, Seasonal Greens was fresh and well seasoned. Would highly recommend! Next time maybe I'll stay at the hotel!
First visit lovely atmosphere and staff very good.
Didn't think there was a great menu choice. Food is a bit expensive for what it is.
Fantastic welcome from the efficient staff at this beautiful country pub. Lots of seating in the garden, gazebo/covered area and inside. Good drinks range and tasty food. Planning to stay over next time to fully enjoy the atmosphere and wine list!
Ordered roast beef for 3 people and was informed that beef was a bit on the pink side . So I asked could we have 2 well done and one a little pink was fine. They all came out rare . Luckily I had my dog with me so he a good lunch . I didn’t complain I just can’t be bothered plus I was taking my pa out for lunch. £100 with drinks. We got a mc Donald’s on way home as I was still hungry. I won’t be going back there . There other pubs are great we frequent them regularly. The duke William is by far the best in my opinion. So I will stick with that one .
